OCTOBER 2019

With a heavy heart, I am sad to announce that after 13+ years of operating my in home daycare, I have closed my business as my family is relocating out of state. Over the years I have cared for and grown to love so many children and families. My heart aches at the thought of saying goodbye and not being physically present in their lives anymore. Thankfully, I can rely on social media to keep up with all my former kiddos and watch them grow up from afar. I will love and miss you all forever!

Welcome to my family home day care!

Hi! My name is Miss Angel and I am a licensed child care provider located in (west) Olathe, Kansas (near 119 & K7) and I would love to meet with you to see if my program would be a good fit for you and your family!

I am licensed through the state of Kansas to give parents the confidence that I am trained in and adhere to state regulations and guidelines. At any time, the state health department can show up unannounced and inspect my home to ensure that I am following their guidelines for your child’s safety. I currently provide in home daycare to infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and school-aged children starting as early as 6 weeks old. I am also listed with DayCare Connection and the Family Conservatory, two local childcare placement programs.

I am a college graduate who spent many years in a professional career before being blessed with my own 2 children. I am a now a stay at home mom to two wonderful children in middle school. Instead of enrolling a large number of children (licensed up to 10), I prefer to keep my group small to allow for more personalized attention and nurturing.

I live on a quiet kul-da-sac in a new neighborhood in West Olathe. I am in walking distance to Forest View Elementary, Prairie Center Elementary, and Mission Trail Middle School. I am also very close to the new Olathe West High School.  My home is furry-pet-free, smoke-free, gun-free, and drug-free. I use the entire level of my main floor but we spend most of our time in my dedicated daycare room. This room is complete with toys, games, books, paints, puzzles - basically anything a child would want to play with. I have a fenced in backyard with a large play set that includes toddler swings, a slide, a sandbox, and lots of room to run freely. I have numerous ride toys that the children enjoy using when we take walks through the neighborhood. I also have several raised garden beds that the children and I enjoy tending and learning about how vegetables grow before we eat them!

I am dedicated to providing a safe but fun atmosphere for your children's personal growth and development needs. I realize that your child is your most valuable treasure and I promise to treat them as such. My goal is to allow you, the parent, to have the freedom to go to work with confidence, knowing that your child is loved and well cared for.

I believe that it is important for children to have time and opportunities to explore in their environment. I provide activities and educational materials to encourage their natural curiosity. I encourage ALL the children to be as hands on as possible. We don’t just play with playdoh, we make it together first, and then we play!

We follow a predictable schedule each day but the activities may vary depending on the weather, seasons, or outside fieldtrips.

At my own expense, I subscribe to a monthly preschool curriculum to have ready made lessons and crafts. I adapt this curriculum to make it my own as I also incorporate Bible stories and additional learning topics that are age appropriate for the children that I currently have enrolled. I have many years of experience of teaching Sunday School to children as well as Vacation Bible School.

I have chosen to take continuing educational classes in the childcare field to make me a better childcare provider. Some of the classes that I have taken in the past include “Using Conscious Discipline with Infants & Toddlers”, “Pediatric First Aid”, “Teach, Train, Talk: How to Communicate Effectively with Children”, “Ooey Gooey Squishy Plop! Sensory Play for Every Day!”, and “Centers, Curriculum and Christ”.

In 2009, I took "Child/Infant CPR" and "Redirecting Children's Behavior" through the Johnson County Health Department. I also attended the Christian Early Childhood Association of Greater Kansas City Annual Conference and took the following classes - "Music, Movement, and Motivation", "Teaching Children about the Fruits of the Spirit", "Biting and Other Baffling Behaviors", and "You Can't Play with Us: Relational Aggression in Young Girls".

In 2010, I took the following classes as well: Discovering & Surviving Difficult Tempermental Traits, Hands-On Math, Birds, Bugs, & Butterflies, Fun with Physical Science, and 6x6 Ready to Read - Six Skills by Six Years.

In 2012, I have taken all additional classes required by the state to fulfill new regulation guidelines in place - including: Home Daycare New Regulation's Guidelines; ABC'S of Safe Sleep: SIDS and Other Infant Deaths; Infant/Child CPR & Pediatric 1st Aid; and Recognizing Child Abuse & Abusive Head Trauma. I have also fulfilled my nutritional training required by Daycare Connection by taking the course "What's on Your Plate?".

In 2013, I took the following additional classes:  "Introduction to Child Development", "A Healthy Approach to the Holidays" and attended a presentation on Fun & Frugal Rules for Daycare Providers.

In 2014, I renewed my Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid and Infant/Child CPR training and took the following classes: Positive Guidance Techniques for Challenging Behaviors, and Exploring the Great Outdoors.

In 2015, I took the following classes:  Emergency Preparedness for Licensing, The Importance of Play for Everyone, and It's Time to Get Down & Dirty.

In 2016, I renewed my Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid and Infant/Child CPR Training.

I will renew my Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid and Infant/Child CPR training in 2018.
